My name is Carol, and I am new to this website.  I like it alot so far even though it was hard to get on it.
Well, I want to use this posting to tell you about a wonderful way to learn English from an American, which happens to be my husband...^_^
His name is John Dowd, originally from Boston, Massachusetts, USA.  We just moved to Xiamen last month because my family lives near Xiamen.
We want to get together, a small group of people that want to improve their oral and listening.  This group will be between 6-8 people, and should be able to express simple ideas in English.  The group will spend 1.5 hours with John about twice a week, and will talk about  a pre-determined topic each time so that everyone gets to voice their opinions.  We believe that this is the most effective way to learn "everyday" English, since we will be talking about topics that have to do with everyday lifes.

For those of you that are interested:
we are thinking to do twice a week, 1.5 hours a day, so you get 12 hours per month for RMB600!!!
Each hour is only RMB50!  No more than 8 people per class.

really really something stupid, why should we just follow a stupid american to improve the english? an expert? if so, there must be better way for your guys to get a living from.

So you will charge this group 50RMB per hour? Or charge each one in this group 50RMB per hour?
BTW,谢员外,I think you should treat people friendly here,If you don't know how to respect people,how can you expect people respect you.You have rights to show your opinion,but make sure that doesn't hurt people.

Thanks for your inquiry.  Yes, the charge is 50RMB per person, since it is a group format, it is cheaper.

That means you can get 400.0 per hour?Are you kidding me ?

if you really need money ,why not just rob the bank?

To my mind,totally 150.0 per hour is the average price in this kind of market and each group is around 3 students.  This is much better and reasonable

Ok, I know to whom I should pay respect, at least not those who try to make a cent from the fishgroup.

Yes, it is RMB50/person/hour.  The size of the group is not fixed yet, since we are just starting this right now.  If everyone from the group thinks it is better to have a smaller group, we will definitely change that.
We are NOT trying to make money off the members here, and do not think our price is anything close to outrageous.  Please do not make meaningless comments, although we are open for any constructive criticism.

Yes, my husband taught in the high school in America before.
However, the English group is designed to improve your conversational skills, and not English gramma.
So there may not be text books to follow, but we will use articles of different topics to discuss during group lessons instead.
